Oil Painting Class; Hooded Mergansers

Saturday, April 6, 9am-4pm at the Frederic Art Center.

Each spring and fall, Crex Meadows Wildlife Area is a great bird refuge for the Sandhill Cranes. Jim spends many hours at Crex Meadows observing, photographing and painting wildlife there. In this workshop, students will paint a pair of Hooded Mergansers on 9” x 12” x 5/8” wood frame using Winsor & Newton Artisan Oils (Water base), with no harsh or harmful solvents and alkyd mediums. Linseed oil and Fast Drying Medium is the medium system. To create color harmony students will paint using a limited palette and mix all colors with red, blue, yellow and titanium white. All materials are provided, upon finishing this workshop students will keep their materials including, paints, brushes & a wooden easel.

Class fee of $60.00 is due to Frederic Arts by 3/25
plus a Material Fee of $50.00 is due to the instructor at class.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who have attended Jim’s past (and future Frederic Arts workshops) will not pay a material fee, since they can use materials from earlier workshops.
