Raise the Roof Continues: #19
Friday October 25th at 7:00 PM
“BTnSUZ” REVISIT FOLK MUSIC AT ART CENTER
Bryce and Suz Thomson will sing and play some of their favorite folk music, performing as “BTnSUZ” in a Raising the Roof house concert on Friday, October 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Frederic Art Center on Lake Avenue across from Coon Lake Park. The free concert is a fundraiser with donations supporting the Building Projects Fund.
Bryce and Suz are long-time residents of Polk County. Bryce moved to Balsam Lake in 1975 and worked for his uncle, Chester Peterson, at the Polk County Abstract Company, eventually purchasing the business. Suz Byerly grew up in the Fredericarea and is a 1974 FHS graduate. The couple met and married in 1984. Shortly after they sold their company in 2003 they lost their only child, David. Dave loved music and it was something they had shared together as a family. It was the decision to keep playing music that helped move Suz and Bryce forward through their grief. They played at many weddings and special occasions, eventually performing professionally. Now semi-retired – again! – “BTnSUZ”continue to enjoy sharing their music.
The Raising the Roofmonthly concert series showcases area musical talent and encourages donations to the Frederic Art Center for facility improvements including a fully accessible space for arts education, expression, and enjoyment.Frederic Arts is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and welcomes new members and supporters.More information can be found on Facebook.com/FredericArts and online at fredericarts.org.
Our kiln has been in storage for a year now (Thanks to Ned at D8 Products!). The cement pad has been poured and awaits arrival of the kiln, then a metal building to protect it before winter sets in.
We’re looking for a few good people. Program development, creating a studio space, and equipment acquisition now begins. If you or someone you know wants to be involved in helping us build this “from the ground up”, give Jack a call at 715-371-0144 or info@FredericArts.org

Help us Build Up
the Art Center!
A generous donation of a ceramics kiln this summer by Danbury artists Judith Witt and Bruce Poe has been the impetus for the beginnings of a pottery program. Contingent upon fundraising efforts and public support, it may well take a year or two to get up and running. A studio has be set up and maintained with equipment and supplies, and experienced instructors found. Once built, it will be one of the few such public programs in this region.
You can choose what to support: our building fund, our programming fund or the Public Art fund. It all helps!

Frederic Arts has bought the building at 310 Lake Avenue South from the village! We have already received some generous donations that allow us to make the purchase and begin a capital campaign fund to improve the Art Center and provide ADA accessibility. Stay tuned for updates on our remodeling and fundraising plans.
Building ownership will enable Frederic Arts to continue to bring arts education and appreciation to the community. As an example, after the successful 2017 launch of Art, Craft & Design Classes, we are excited to expand the class offerings for 2018 and beyond.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION ART PROJECT
Bench #1 at the St Croix Medical clinic
YOU HELPED US BUILD A MOSAIC BENCH. As a welcoming gesture and a community involvement and beautification project, Frederic Arts with the help of nearly 100 participants built a mosaic bench to be located the in front of the new clinic. The design as envisioned by local mosaic artist, Cynthia Rintala DeMar is represented above. We used raw material gathered and ask you to help us put it together during the Family Days weekend. The concrete slab was ready and by the end of Saturday. YOU did it! Thanks!
The results are amazing and THANKS to everyone who helped!
Bench #2 at the Art Center
Frederic's Public Arts Commission hopes to add something each year in various public locations throughout Frederic. “It’s a way for village residents and businesses to invest in themselves,” said Jack Route, also a Commission member and on the Board of Frederic Arts. “By adding something each year we hope to increase the awareness of the Arts and in some small way add to the distinctive quality of life we have here in Frederic.”
We are accepting donations in any amount, towards another Public Art purchase for the village. This can be in addition to a membership or separately. Please note on your check your preference. If you have an interest in serving on this commission, please contact Jack Route at 715-371-0144 or firstname.lastname@example.org Donations are accepted anytime by stopping into the Frederic Public Library or sending a check to “Frederic Arts, Public Art” at PO Box 334, Frederic, WI54837. The commission operates independently but receives some funding and administrative help from Frederic Arts.
